Answers to our Most Frequently Asked Sink Questions
How do i clean my sink?
We recommend that the sink only be cleaned with water and a soft cloth. Do not use chemicals or an abrasive material.
Copper is a living material and will darken, over time, as the sink interact with water and air. We suggest wiping the bowl of a copper sink after use, as so remove soap and residual water.
What gauge is my copper sink?
Copper sinks are 18 gauge.
What gauge is my aluminum sink?
This will vary, slightly, depending on the type of sink. Please see the list below for specific products.
Aluminum Harbor Vessel Sink – 14 Gauge
Aluminum Baxter Sink – 14 Gauge
Aluminum Oval Sink – 14 Gauge
Aluminum Oval Skirted Sink – 12 Gauge

I purchased a skirted sink – how do i install it?
Skirted sinks should be partially recessed into your counter. The rim of the sink sits flat on the counter. For additional assistance, we recommend taking the sink to your local hardware store.
I purchased the baxter kitchen sink – what is the measurement of the faucet hole?
The faucet opening measures just under 1.5 inches.
I purchased a harbor vessel sink – do i need a mounting ring? if so, what type/size?
This will depend on the customer’s personal preference. If you need specific advice for your installation, we recommend you consult your plumber or local hardware store.
What is used to connect the bottom of the sink with the drain?
Any drain of your preference will work, EXCEPT overflow drains – Monarch Abode sinks do NOT have an overflow.
Monarch Abode sinks are made of metal which is typically not as thick as a standard porcelain sink. To account for the difference in thickness, adjust the drain by removing or adding gaskets. You MUST use plumbers’ putty as a sealant so there is no leakage.
For additional installation instruction, we strongly encourage you to contact your plumber or local hardware store.
What are the cut-out dimensions for my sink?
Your sink will come with a cut-out sheet that you can use. If you have misplaced your cut-out, you can simply trace the outside of the sink and subtract the flange and/or rim to generate your own cut out.
To view a rough estimate of the sink cut-out dimensions, we suggest you reference the inner dimensions of the sink you are considering. Each sink product page has the inner dimensions listed in the product descriptions.
Which drain should i purchase for my sink? Do you sell drains for the sink?
Monarch Abode manufactures handcrafted items; we do not sell drains or machine made parts.
Please note: Monarch Abode sinks do NOT have an overflow and cannot be used with overflow drains.
We recommend and strongly encourage you to visit your local hardware store for additional assistance.
